If it wasn't for this album we would probably be listening to jazz - all of us hip hop fans. This album is to hip hop what Michael Jordan is to the NBA, what an orgasm is to sex, what air is to breathing. This album needs to be heard. His voice and what he says (Rakim) on this album is sampled even in today's world. And Eric B's beats have had a large impact on other producers.
