DJ Premier - Rare & Unreleased Joints Vol. 1

DJ Premier - Rare & Unreleased Joints Vol. 1

Songs that never made any album, all produced by DJ Premier. Need I say more??

AZ - Doe Or Die

AZ - Doe Or Die

After dropping a great verse on "Illmatic", the album's only guest, AZ decides to drop his solo effort. And just as anyone would expect, it became a classic. It is one of the most defining Mafioso Rap albums. AZ is considered one of the nicest lyricists thanks to this album.

Classics That Never Saw Light vol.3: Juggaknots - Clear Blue Skies

Juggaknots - Clear Blue Skies

This one saw light, only many years later. 1996 grimey hardcore New York Hip Hop - essential for the genre.

Classics That Never Saw Light vol.2: Large Professor - The LP

Large Professor - The LP

Contrary to "Kamaal The Abstract", this is exactly what I expected. Dope, hard and jazzy beats with Large Professor rhyming over them. There is one guest spot made by a dude we all know as Nas, who back in 1995 was one year after recording "Illmatic". I consider it a mystery why this album was not released.

Classics That Never Saw Light vol.1: Q-Tip - Kamaal The Abstract

Q-Tip - Kamaal The Abstract

When I first saw this I imagined a jazz-rap album from the ninties with nothing but great "Abstract" lyrics. When I played this I fell of my chair. Q-Tip managed to combine rap with rock, jazz, blues, even country on this album. He shows his singing skills, which are definitely above average. This is such an experimental album, that I am not surprised it was unreleased. On the other hand, it's an immediate classic so if I get to meet the person who made the decision I will set his ass on fire!

Ras Kass - Soul On Ice

Sorry for the long break. Didn't have the time.

Ras Kass - Soul On Ice

Political as well as religious controversy made this album one of the hardest hip hop albums to buy. That's why it just has to be here. Along with raw and grimey, dark beats this is something you have to listen through at least a million times. "Nature Of The Threat" is probably the most immensing song ever.
